About PNDC

    The center for Public Nutrition and Development of China (PNDC) is a government-sponsored institution affiliated to the Academy of Macroeconomic Research of the National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC). PNDC¡¯s mandates are (i) to increase the knowledge of relations between public nutrition and socio-economic development through research; (ii) to raise nutrition awareness among government officials and the general public through communication and social marketing; (iii) to push for nutrition intervention programs through policy advocacy and coordination; (iv) to bridge nutrition industry and government through consultancy and dialogue; (v) to cooperate with regional and global nutrition communities for a better nourished world.

    PNDC operates under the leadership of the Council, whose members come from the nutrition-related departments of NDRC, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Grain Administration, the State Bureau for Technological and Quality Inspection and the China Nutrition Society. Mme. Hao Jianxiu, Vice Chairperson of the Chinese People¡¯s Political Consultative Conference, is the Honorary Chairperson of the Council, and Prof. Bai Hejin, former Secretary General of NDRC, is the Chairmen of the Council. The present director of PNDC is Prof. Yu Xiaodong, Director of the National Nutrition Improvement Program.
